The intensive language courses are the first step into your student life at unibz. To help you make the most of this experience, we organised some activities to help you discover the area, meet new people and make the most of your time in South Tyrol.

Make sure to reserve your spot! Please note: each activity has its own registration form. Make sure to register using the appropriate link for the activity you wish to attend.

How to reserve your spot

Activities with a limited number of participants (those marked with *) must be booked in advance. You can sign up for activities directly at the link below:

Week 1 (01-05 September)

01 Tuesday

15:30 - Info Session

During the Info Session, you will be introduced to the University services and we will help you kick-start your academic journey on the right foot.

02 Wednesday

*15:30 - Discover the City! Guided Tour of the City Centre
📍 Universitätsplatz 1-Piazzetta dell'Università 1
Bruneck-Brunico, the town on the Rienz-Rienza River, is located 835 meters above sea level, has about 17,000 inhabitants, and consists of six districts. The town is still the economic and cultural centre of the Puster Valley today. And as such, it has a lot to offer: museums, tourist attractions, beautiful merchant houses with colourful facades that take you back in time. But also cozy bars and restaurants.

Week 2 (07-12 September)

07 Monday

15:30 - Info Session for Latecomers

During this Info Session, which is reserved to students joining the language courses only on week 2, we will introduce you to the University services and help you kick-start your academic journey on the right foot.

12 Saturday

*15:00 - Play and Chill | St. Georgen-San Giorgio
📍 Universitätsplatz 1-Piazzetta dell'Università 1
Take an easy walk from the city centre to a peaceful green area by the river in the small town of St. Georgen-San Giorgio. There, you can relax by the water, play cards, spread out a picnic blanket, or enjoy a game of beach volley. It’s an ideal spot to unwind and have some fun!

Explore the Surroundings: hike to Reinbach-Riva Waterfalls

Explore the stunning Reinbach-Riva Waterfalls near Sand in Taufers-Campo Tures. This hike offers breathtaking views as the river creates three beautiful waterfalls. We suggest to bring a packed lunch from home so to enjoy a picnic with a view—there's nothing like savouring your meal surrounded by nature's beauty!

Get to know the Culture: visit the Messner Mountain Museum Ripa

The MMM Ripa is dedicated to the mountain peoples of the world. Located in Bruneck-Brunico Castle, which was once the summer residence of the Prince-Bishops of Brixen, the museum showcases the proud, resilient and adaptable way of life of mountain peoples over thousands of years. It looks to Asia, Africa, South America and Europe. And inwards.

Get Active: go Climbing

If you're looking for a bit of adventure, Bruneck-Brunico and its surroundings offer plenty of opportunities for climbing. Whether you are a beginner or already have some experience, you can find different climbing spots and facilities in the area and enjoy a sporty break surrounded by the mountains.

How to get there

For most of our activities, the meeting point will be at the Main Entrance, Universitätsplatz 1-Piazzetta dell'Università 1.

To explore the city and its surroundings conveniently and sustainably, we advise you to use public transportation. We suggest buying the südtirolmobil-altoadigemobilità Pass. You can travel on the entire public transportation network in South Tyrol and on regional trains up to Trento for a whole year. unibz students who are under 26 years of age when requesting the pass, can buy the ticket for € 153.
