Study Plan and Exams

You can only take exams for the courses included in your study plan. If a course is not in your plan, you won’t be able to take the exam.

When you enrol, you are automatically assigned a standard study plan that includes all mandatory courses you must complete.

The mandatory optional courses (grouped by category) must be added by you when the Faculty Secretariat opens the study plan compilation period. You will be notified by email. This happens twice a year and is managed through mySNS.

Both bachelor’s and master’s degree study plans require 12 credits from free choice courses. You can choose which courses to add, including:

  • courses from your own degree programme (see course catalogue)
  • courses from master’s programmes within your faculty (see didactic offer)
  • courses from bachelor’s programmes within your faculty (see didactic offer)
  • courses from other faculties (as long as they align with your academic path and are approved by the Degree Course Council). Requests can be submitted when the
  • study plan is open, following the instructions provided by the Faculty Secretariat (design-art@unibz.it)

Workshop Courses

Workshop courses are also part of your study plan. To attend them, you must first complete the mandatory safety training (Work Safety – Machinery Hazard – Chemical Risk), as required by current regulations.

Starting from the 2025 cohort:

  • Bachelors: In the first semester, you will attend the “Warm-Up” introductory workshop courses. These are compulsory to access the specialised workshop courses. From the second semester onwards, you must choose and attend at least two specialised workshops.
  • Masters: In the first semester, you will attend introductory workshop courses, which are compulsory to access the specialised ones. From the second semester onwards, you must choose and attend at least one specialised workshop.
Workshop courses do not carry credits, but attendance is mandatory.

Students who enrolled before 2025 should follow the rules of their original study plan.

Course Duration and Credits

Our academic offering follows the Qualifications Framework in the European Higher Education Area:

  • Bachelors: 180 ECTS credits – 3 years
  • Masters: 120 ECTS credits – 2 years

In special cases, you may submit an individual study plan, subject to approval by the Degree Course Council.
