Issue of Certificates

Issue of Certificates

In Italy certificates are always substituted by self-declarations when submitted to public administrations or to private managers of public services (Art. 15, law nr. 183, 12.11.2011). Italian public administrations cannot request nor accept certificates issued by other Italian public offices.

Citizens can use self-declarations instead of certificates, if destined for public administrations.

If you need to certify that you have attended courses and/or passed language exams organized by the Language Centre, you must use a self-declaration form: just fill it in, print it out, check the data it contains and sign it.

False declarations are considered a criminal offence!

Please note that the language levels reached by students by the end of their studies have been certified in the Diploma Supplement since July 2019. More information can be found in the Study Guide > Graduation > Faculty > Diploma.
If you graduated before July 2019, you may request a certificate (no "marca da bollo" required).

unibz can issue certificates only in special cases. On written request, the Language Centre may issue certificates by filling in a certificate form for the following uses only:

  • for private persons in Italy;
  • abroad (except for Erasmus students who have to contact the Language Centre);
  • for the purposes of issuing and renewing residence permit.

As established in the D.P.R. no. 642/1972 and following modifications, certificates and their application forms, require each a duty stamp of current value (16 Euro) to be paid virtually.

In the exemption cases contemplated by the law, you do not need to pay the stamp duty neither for the application form nor for the issued certificate. You must indicate the purpose of the certificate on the request form.

When submitting the request, you  must clearly indicate the use for which the certification is intended.

How to request a certificate

If you need a certificate (attended courses and/or passed language exams organized by the Language Centre) for one of the reasons mentioned above, please:

  1. fill in this form. In the cases where a duty stamp is not requested, you must tick the purpose and the relevant law reference in the form;
  2. send the form via e-mail to the Language Centre;
  3. pay the amount via pagoPA with the payment slip sent by the Language Centre and forward the payment receipt to the Language Centre by e-mail.

Certificates will be issued in digital form within 10 working days after the payment and sent via e-mail.
