During the last online meeting of the Steering Committee of the SIdE, the latter designated Prof. Francesco Ravazzolo, Full Professor of Econometrics at the Faculty of Economics and Management, as one of its members. As a new member of the steering committee of the SIdE he will support the society in promoting econometric research, study and dissemination. This may be good news not only for the scholar but also for the Faculty and its students. 

“As a matter of facts, I will be in charge of one of the two summer schools that attract worldwide leading academics and students from all of Europe. I will also help in the organization of workshops with the goal to bring to unibz the bi-annual ICEEE conference in the near future. I will help to spread SIdE activities to unibz students, therefore offering more possibilities for the near future, and I am convinced with my service to strengthen the role of unibz as one of the leading institutions for quantitative methods and economic modeling in Italy”, says Ravazzolo.  

The econometrician joined the Faculty of Economics and Management at Free University of Bozen-Bolzano in 2018. Prior to that he worked as Principal Researcher and Deputy Director at the Norges Bank in Oslo, and at the same time lectured at the BI Norwegian Business School where is he is still visiting Professor at the Center for Applied Macro and commodity Prices. In addition to being in the Steering Committee of SIdE, he is also member of the Executive Committee of Society of Nonlinear Dynamics and Econometrics. In 2015 Ravazzolo was ranked among the top young 100 economists worldwide by IDEAS-RePEc, the world index of academic research in economics. 

The Italian Society for Econometrics – headquarter at the University in Bologna – is the main scientific association for econometricians in our country. It organizes conferences, workshops and courses for PhD Students and young scholars.
