I offer come thoughts and commentary about the challenges of publishing in top tier journals, and, in particular, about the task of positioning research: that is, the art of identifying and crafting research questions that readers find compelling and interesting. I will discuss the merits of alternative positioning strategies, as well as the particular, and occasionally peculiar, challenges that arise when striving to publish in elite journals.
