seeking healthy volunteers aged 18–40 years

Researchers at Eurac Research – Institute ofMountain Emergency Medicine in Bolzano are seeking healthy volunteers aged18–40 years for a field study investigating the physiological effects of amonth-long stay at moderate altitude (2,300 m a.s.l.) this summer.

Participants in the moderate altitude (MAHE) study will spend oneweek in Silandro/Schlanders for baseline measurements, followed by fourconsecutive weeks at Rifugio Nino Corsi / Zufallhütte between August andSeptember. Selected post-exposure measurements will then be conducted inBolzano in the week after returning from moderate altitude. Screening visits inBolzano will be scheduled between July and August on an individual basis.

A reimbursement of 400 EUR (gross) will be paid to compensatesubjects for the time investment. Additionally, accommodation and all foodswill be provided throughout the 5-week study period.

Outside of scheduled measurements, participants are free to spendtheir time as they wish (e.g., working remotely, studying or enjoying theoutdoors) and WiFi is available. To support the study aims, participants willbe asked not to exceed their habitual physical activity levels and avoidchanging altitude during the study period.
